CPACE Meeting Minutes

• Corporation for a Skilled Workforce (CSW): Cindee, Tammy, Taryn, Kysha

Agenda:

1) Sample stratification (version Feb 12, 2009)

Tammy walked us through the stratification process.

Add data about national reference to compare to the Midwest reference that we are using. See Sample stratification version Feb 12 updated with national reference

Question about the sample:

• How random is the sample? we need to decide what method to sue to do the sampling (compare different random groups and observe the variation)

• Keep in mind that for curricular purposes we want the common themes from the computational perspective....

• But we will keep all the CS specific data for future reference. Remain open to the possibilities at the disciplinary level.
• Need to be careful about the samples that are dropped in terms of employers efforts to help us.

2) Update Industry report:

• Due date end of March- first April.

• Decide about printing; mostly web based, We can print only about 50 and if we need more we will do it ourselves

• Cindee will meet with Linda to discuss design.

3) Mark and Jon going to Washington March 11. There will be a draft of the report that they will bring to the meeting. Also more of the analysis part will be done by then.

4) Cindee, Mark and Polasek met with the director of American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) :

• Checking ways to conect and engage companies in the project.
• Could engage them at the AB level (we have lost some people)
• Dissemination 
• Can help us with surveys
• Michigan Society of Professional Engineers other possibility for engagement; they have lots of Civ Eng (independent contractors) but also EE and ME are assisting with design.
