Agenda
1) Industry report
Cindee walked us through the report.
Major points:
- Keep in mind the target audience:
- How will the report be used.
- Easy to read with core information
- Flexible to lend itself top broad distribution (15 pgs)
Content:
- Purpose of the project
- Industry information from ONet (helped us characterize our sample)
- MI economy (WIRED)
- What have we learned from the data (commonalities. differences)
- Implications of the data as it relates to the future of Eng (Eng jobs, sustainability, DFE)
Applications:
- How is the data going to be used to inform curricular change
- Dissemination
- Stay connected to employers
Timetable End of March
Reactions:
- NSF should be an audience
- Other potential funding agencies (institutions, Gov, DOE) for example gov agencies interested in green eng.
- Important to consider the strengths of MSU and how it related to Computational Thinking. Bio energy
- We are missing bio energy companies
- Need to have a basic or core report that appeals to all audiences.
But need to have subreports with emphasis in points appealing to
specific audiences.
2) OSU:
Talk to Gustavson, open discussion about collaboration for T grant.
3) Proposal:
- NSF Intend to refocus on CS.
- Need to think around Computational Thinking then need to define C.
- Need to have CS faculty involvement (we have Jon and Louise) also J Turner is key.
- Clear some points with program officer (Jon and Mark).
- OPn thenLCC side focus on the transfer-transition alignment.
- We will analyze the ChemE (Daina) curriculum to see the current statusand think about poinbts for integartion.
- On the evaluation part they want to know about the results. SAMPI is on board.
- Create a wiki page to add ides a bout the proposal (Claudia).
